SCHOOL OF MARINE EDUCATION (SME) in collaboration with South Shields Marine School are adapting to the ‘new normal’ by offering an innovative remote learning approach, which marks the beginning of our new flexible training offer to meet the requirements of the industries, companies and individuals we serve.
South Shields Marine School an extensive programme of senior marine training courses from navigation to engineering whilst also tailoring these courses to meet the specific needs of the individual or employer.
With this new remote training approach, you will still gain the necessary internationally recognised skills and MCA qualifications to work at sea, but with the flexibility to study your way.
UK Coc courses that can now also be delivered remotely. DECK and ENGINE courses are also being delivered as part of our blended learning approach, which includes both on-site and remote learning.
Blended Learning Allow the course to work around you by studying from home or anywhere with additional flexibility options available.
The Online teaching will be run as pre-arranged lectures where students can use the chat function, to interact, post questions and comments
Students will be able to use Microsoft Teams to collaborate, post information or ask lecturers for assistance outside of lecture time
Have access to MOODLE our student learning platform which contains our Management Level course notes, industry guidance and instructional videos South Shield Marine School is now offering exciting and flexible new options the 10 week and 6 Week Engineering Knowledge (General and Motor Only) course via remote learning
This will consist of the entire course that is taught at South Shields Marine School being available to attend remotely. Our experienced lecturing staff will be using wireless microphones in class along with sharing their computer screen and Powerpoint presentations, in addition to a webcam being fixed at the white board for any handwritten notes, descriptions and diagrams our lecturers may wish to add to their sessions.
Remote students will be able to interact with the lecturer as normal and ask any questions they may have via Microsoft Teams, and will receive our full support throughout the programme as they usually would on site with us at our campus.
The course can be studied through either our 10 Week or the intensive 6 week programmes.
